Project Wildfire is the only group across the nation formed by County Ordinance to specifically address the risks of wildland fire in a community.
Project Wildfire is governed by a diverse volunteer Steering Committee of up to 27 members with specified representation. It is comprised of local, state and federal government agencies, higher education institutions, as well as private sector members representing business, marketing, private forestry, homeowners associations, insurance, the environmental community, and citizens at large. Committee meetings are open to the public and occur from 8:00 am to 9:30 am on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Deschutes County Services Building located at 1300 NW Wall St. in Bend, Oregon.
Although the word collaboration gets thrown around a lot these days, Project Wildfire is successful because of our partnerships and collective resources that allow us to succeed where an individual or one agency may not. Project Wildfire utilizes collaboration at every level – from our general membership to our work in neighborhoods and communities to make central Oregon safer against the threat of wildland fire.
